📐 How to Measure Your Drapes

First — Check Your Space

Before you start measuring, decide where above your window opening you want to mount your drapes. You will need at least 2" of flat vertical space above the window to mount the brackets. The drape can be installed directly above the window opening or higher to give the appearance of a larger window. If you have trim, you can mount above it, directly on it, or to the sides. If you do not have sufficient vertical space, please consider a different product.

Width (Rod/Track Width)

Decide what area you'd like to cover — we recommend extending 3" on each side of the window opening for best light control and appearance. Measure left to right including your desired overhang to the nearest 1/8". That is your ordering width.

Drop Length (Height)

Measure from where you plan to mount the rod or track down to where you want the bottom of the drape to fall. Common options: to the floor (leave 1/2" clearance above floor), puddle on floor (add 3–6" extra), or to window sill. Measure in three places — left, center, and right — and use the tallest measurement. That is your ordering drop length.

Note

Always provide your actual desired coverage measurement. No deductions will be made to the ordered width or drop length. When maximum light blocking is needed, outside mount with the recommended 3" overlap on each side provides significantly better coverage.
